Lying in the lower reaches of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River and the central part of East China, Anhui is bounded by Jiangsu and Zhejiang on the east, Hunan and I Hubei on the west, Jiangxi on the south and Shandong on the north, with the Changjiang River (Yangtze River) and the Huaihe River flowing through it. Area: over 130000 km2.

Anhui has an uneven terrain. Its northern portion is occupied by North China Plain, while its southern and western parts are mountainous, with a series of beautiful mountains and hills.

The province enjoys a temperate and humid monsoon climate characterized by distinct four seasons. The annual mean temperature is 14-17C’ and the annual precipitation is 770-1700 mm.

Anhui possesses a long-standing historical civilization and picturesque sceneries. The national major famous scenic areas include Mt. Huangshan, Mt. Tianzhu, Mt. Jiuhua and Mt. Langya.Besides,the local-style dwelling houses have won the reputation of “An Epitome of Oriental Civilization”. The ancient Villages of Xidi and Hongcun have been included in The World Heritages.

The specialities in Anhui are famous in China. Black tea in Qimen, green tea in Huangshan, the traditional handicrafts and the four treasures of study, etc, all enjoy good fame in the country.
